Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, a Canadian-American singer and songwriter. She has released over 20 albums of studio work. DiFranco describes her music under the terms folk-rock and alternative, but it also contains influences such as hip-hop, punk and jazz. Ani DiFranco is frequently regarded as a feminist icon and Grammy-winning performer, is regarded as the creator of DIY music. It was one of the very first musicians to launch her own label in 1990. DiFranco was a born on the 23rd of September, 1970, in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Dante Americo DiFranco. Her mother and father were both from Montreal origin. Ani diFranco was the composer and singer of the song 32 Flavors. This song appeared on her fifth studio album Not a Pretty Girl which came out in 1995. Another version of the song is featured in the soundtrack to 1999's Canadian love story Better Than Chocolate. In 2013, DiFranco apologized when it was announced that she would be hosting a three-day workshop at a former Louisiana slave plantation. A lot of people (including us) did not feel affected by her decision to cancel. DiFranco issued another apology several days afterwards. While she has been known by the name of Little Folksinger, her music has embraced many genres and collaborators ranging from Pete Seeger to Chuck D to Prince. She lives in New Orleans.
